  • Yes! Refuge is a pilot program that is live and fully-functional. This limited engagement will retire in 2024 to make space for a full-scale hotel development at this location.

  • We’re located at 1101 Central Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28204.

    From Central Ave., turn onto Heath Ct. and there is a parking lot behind the building. Parking is complimentary.

    You can also access the hotel from the back entrance, adjacent to La Autentica Mexican Restaurant.

  • Check in is at 3pm.

    After you park, head up to the front of the building facing Central Ave. Check your email for the access code from the sender named “Operto”. Your access code will open the front door as well as your guest room.

  • Check out is at 11am.

    If you’d like a little bit more time after the 11am check-out, please let us know and we’ll do what we can to accommodate all possibilities.

  • Maybe. Since we are a self check-in hotel, we are unable to commit in advance because we don’t always have staff on site. Please get in touch, and we’ll figure something out if you have a later flight or need some extra space for a bit.

  • Yes, of course. No unnecessary barriers here. Let us know what you need and we’ll adjust.

  • Head to our lobby bar where we have a rotating residency program of local bartenders, and more! Grab a drink and relax in the front lounge and patio. Cheers!

  • Please refer to your confirmation email for the Wifi password.

  • Our 5 rooms come in different layouts and can accommodate from 2 to 4 guests. Check out the rooms page for details and photos of each room.

  • Extremely! We didn’t get a 100 (A) Sanitation Rating from the North Carolina Department of Health by cutting corners. There are few pleasures in life better than coming back to a fresh, clean room after a long day, and if you have any issues, please call (980) 221-9970 or email us at stay@refugeoncentral.com.

  • No. All rooms are completely non-smoking. If you light up or vape inside the hotel you’ll be charged a $250 smoking fee to your card, plus taxes.

  • No, we cannot accommodate pets in our establishment. We understand how much you love your furry (or scale-y!) companion. But we are not set up for pet care to maintain a level of cleanliness, hygiene, and hypo-allergenic environment that is our standard for all guests.

  • The Refuge pilot is set up to make the most of its existing, compact space. Easy, self check-in, minimal fuss, maximum efficiency! With all that the surrounding area has to offer, you’ll likely not even have time to idle around a pool. Check the neighborhood page for suggestions on what to do while you’re here.

  • In the hallway you’ll find a dresser with a hair dryer, extra towels, and other extras you may need.
